22squared

Describe your office space to us. Our clients and work demand people who are cool, creative and wickedly smart, with real lives, real interests and a fierce commitment to each other, to our work and to 22squared. Our workplace is a setting for them to thrive in every sense: it’s brightly colored and filled with natural light and reclaimed materials, the latter of which – from our 300+ pieces of recycled furniture to our 150-year-old hardwood floors – are mixed with new ones to give the space a sense of being timeless. Our open (non-cube) workstations, huddle rooms, videoconferencing equipment, and ample writeable glass and whiteboard walls encourage collaboration and engagement. Overall, our space is the place that houses our 22squared family.

Where did the inspiration for your office space design come from? Most of our inspiration came from our employees and our culture. We worked with our design partner, Gensler, to create a space that gives us the flexibility to collaborate anywhere, with anyone, at any time, through the addition of more gathering places, writeable surfaces and technological enhancements.

What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why? My favorite part of our office is the coffee bar in our kitchen. We wanted it to be a comfortable, hierarchy-free area where people would gather as they do at their kitchen counters at home. We serve espresso there every Wednesday, bagels every Friday, and occasionally a pancake breakfast is cooked and served by a member of our executive team.

Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work? Our space has enhanced the way we work. With our mix of open workstations, meeting rooms, huddle rooms, enhanced technological capabilities and natural light, our people can now gather and be highly functional anywhere in our space.

If you could use one word to describe the feel of the office space, what would it be? Energetic.

Tell us about your company and what it means to you to have a well-designed office space. We believe the most effective way to grow brands is through advocacy. We find what people are interested in, and then help insert our brands into the conversation. The result is work that gets people talking and makes brands grow, and we apply it across all media, for clients as diverse as Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, The Costa Rica Tourism Board, Florida’s Natural Growers, Publix Super Markets, Shoe Carnival and Southeast Toyota Distributors.

A well-designed space reflects culture and the way work gets done, and it drives people to do their best. At 22squared, our culture drives us to be passionate about our work, about ideas and about helping each other succeed. We reward and recognize people for ideas that make people talk – in every department, that’s what our people strive to do. Creating Work that talks™ isn’t easy, but it’s possible when everyone knows that great ideas come from the mob and not just one person.
