Good things do come in small packages, like this Home Office Makeover from the owner of Akimbo Stationery. She used one of my newly favorite color schemes gray, white and yellow making this small space, the perfect workspace.

TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:
The small office that I share with my hub-to-be is colorful and uncluttered like the rest of the house, however it definitely has a more clean and modern look than the other rooms. The white furniture and pale grey walls make the most of the great natural light that the room gets.
TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?
Definitely the desk, which we made with elements of Ikea kitchen cabinets. It hides our printer, scanner, stationery, art supplies, portfolios, you name it!
TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?
I knew I wanted grey walls to bring out the white furniture, and the starting point for the accent colour came from the Planet lamp that I’ve had since I was a baby. From there everything just fell into place.
TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?
I get distracted and can’t focus when my environment is untidy. When we first moved in, there was zero storage so it was always messy.
TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?
It is such a pleasant, light-filled and inspiring place now. It’s much more efficient and tidy so I am a lot more productive too. I wouldn’t call it ‘done’ though, for me decorating is an ongoing process. I would love to add a workbench next to the bookcase for messier jobs like cutting and gluing. Oh, and a nicer chair!
TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?
Absolutely! You spend most of your waking hours in your office so it should get as much attention as the rest of your home.

I am a graphic designer so an inspiring office is a must-have, especially now that I have just quit my job to focus on my stationery design business Akimbo. In life and work, it’s all about pretty meets practical.
