As you know, I’ve expanded into a lovely office space that I’m currently in the process of styling from head to toe or in this case, floor to ceiling. It’s really exciting and I love that I’m starting from scratch but I have so many ideas that it can be overwhelming. I’ve started off with paint and we have some temporary furniture in the space as well. I have a bulletin board I designed being built and until it’s done I don’t want to add anything else. It’s what I would call a statement piece in the office so before I get going on the other parts, I want this one done.

Anyhoo, aside from that I checked out some really cool glass samples to possibly use for my desk. Here are just a few of the samples:

Also going to have a gorgeous candy buffet in the office (yes you read that right a candy buffet!) with candy that’s purple, silver, black and white. Just thinking about it makes me giddy! It’ll look something like this:

That candy buffet is for a wedding so ours will have 2-3 jars and then other office accessories we need. A great treat for both my staff and for our office guests!

I have to have fun at work so of course I’ve been putting together some themes for our days here (live well at work right?) and Fridays have officially been declared Fancy Fridays. I know most people prefer casual Fridays but I think since it’s the weekend you want to look your best instead of wearing pajamas. Other days we’re working on is Workout Wednesdays, Mopey Mondays etc. Do any of you name your days?

Coffee!

I woke up one morning wondering if I felt like spending another $4 on my morning latte and decided no, I really didn’t. I love going to get coffee, don’t get me wrong. The thing is, I’d like a more convenient option, really really convenient and easy. What did I do exactly? I started testing out at home/office one-cup coffee and espresso machines. Besides the fact that it was a lot of fun, I got to see what machine works best where(at the office or at the home office) AND I have a special giveaway lined up so one lucky winnner  can get a machine of their own. Pretty sweet right? I thought so .

How about some changes to your work area?

Whether you work in a cubicle or you’re a stay at home mom, you still have a station/hub known as your work area. For a mom it may be an area in the kitchen designated for bills, mail etc. For a office assistant it may be the front desk or lobby area of your work. Wherever you work, make a list of 10 things you’d like to change and put them into action. If you think 10 is too much, think again. You can work with 1 thing a day to change or one thing a week.  I’ll help you get started with some ideas for your list:

• Add some color
• Switch out ugly mesh pencil holder for bright new one
• Invest in a good + stylish desk
• Clear the clutter taking over my desk
• Add some life with a plant or pot of flowers
• Get rid of all the broken pens, pencils and other desk items that are taking up space where they shouldn’t

Get the idea right? The important thing is to Live well at Work, Wherever Work is®, and know that your workspace is not an area to neglect. Remember, you spend more time working than you do sleeping, so why neglect the biggest part of your life?

Can you believe we are already in the holiday season? October-December are my busiest months of the year and this year is no different. I’ve already started checking off my holiday gift lists and preparing The Office Stylist’s 2010 Gift Guide. Are you excited!? I sure am because we have a lot of really cool stuff we’ve come across that just make great gifts for your boss, co-workers, self, mom, dad, sister, etc. From Fun Desk Accessories to cool phone cases, we have loads to talk about.

Besides gift giving there are a few things I’d like to chat about to make this holiday season fun for everyone;

• Dressing the part
• Food, food and more food
• Parties!
• The Spirit

Remember that even though it may be the busiest time of the year for some of you, it should still be fun. I noticed that after everyone took the poll on holiday parties, nearly 35% can’t stand them!  Now that’s not really a fun vibe to have during the best part of the year.

If you want to skip the party but stay in on all the fun try bringing in some holiday treat or wear that  hilarious reindeer sweater you received as a gift to the office. The point here obviously is to have fun.

Remember, no matter what holiday you celebrate, no one likes a grouch! So put on a smile and keep it there.

On that note, everyone should have certain wardrobe staples(things that you can keep around forever) and especially when it comes to work. Think about it; If you had let’s say 10 pieces that never went out of style, wouldn’t it be easier to put together your look each day? A big part of getting ready to leave for work is spent on getting dressed. It’s not always the easiest considering a lot of folks out there always tend to think they have nothing to wear. This could be that they aren’t satisfied with what’s in their closet, they don’t know how to put a look together easily or a number of other reasons. With that being said, each month we are going to talk about, write about, and help you put together the work wardrobe staples that should be in everybody’s closet.

Each month over the next year, we’re going to talk about what you really need in your closet. Obviously for September we’ve chosen pencil skirts and we will continue talking about them, jewelry and other accessories that work well together.

Now wouldn’t it be great to get up each morning and not spend 45 mins trying to decide what to wear? I imagine it would, so keep an eye out for our new series of articles you can find in our Office Fashion section.

Yep, now we are on to iPhone 4 cases, skins and accessories. We’ve already started on a few things like these super cool speakers, and we’re excited to tell you about all the other cool things we’ve come across and tried. So expect tons of iPhone related posts this month mixed into our celebrity interviews, office profiles, and quotes of the week.

Besides my latest tech toy (iPhone 4), I’m pretty excited to share all the new and cool office supplies we’ve got coming into our store, SortingwithStyle.com. I’ve taken this summer to really scout for new, fun and interesting office items to help brighten up your work day. If you’re sitting in that cubicle all day long, you have no excuse as to why you’re surrounded by a mess of boring and bland desk accessories. Your desk is pretty much the only thing you can personalize in your office sometimes, so really take advantage of that.

Remember, you spend more time working than you do sleeping, so don’t neglect such a big part of your life.
