A Styled Bookcase

So you think of a bookcase and you think you’ll just throw your books up there and be done with it right? Wrong. Believe it or not I’ve been asked quite a lot about how to style a bookcase. I’d love to just set things up on a bookcase and forget about it but if you want it to be aesthetically pleasing to a room(or in my case, my office) then you’ll need to add accessories and stylish storage to get the job done.

Here is what I started with:

Tips for you:

-Place your books in a different direction, it’s your bookcase so it’s up to you!

-Add accessories, it really does wonders

-Use stylish storage instead of something you’d rather not see

Stuck with a Small Space but Need Room to Work? Try OneLessDesk

Today I’m super excited to show you all a desk I’ve been talking about non-stop. It’s a custom made OneLessDesk, which is the perfect size and solution for home offices/smaller offices/workspaces. You’ll find that sometimes, as your business grows, you find the need to hire more employees but don’t have the space to do so. Or you need to place to work but you live in a studio apartment. This is where a OneLessDesk comes in handy. Here is a look at the one that was custom made for us and our office makeover series:

It looks slightly more blue than purple because of the lighting in these photos but its the exact same purple as in our company logo. No, not everything in our office is going to be purple but I thought this desk would be gorgeous in purple, and it is.

It’s the perfect size for both our space and for my assistant. Another great spot for a OneLessDesk is for a home office or workspace area. Flea Market Finds + Inspiration

I love going to flea markets, more for the inspiration than actual shopping. Most times I will find fun and cool decorative accessories that need a little altering but for the most part, I always feel inspired. This past Sunday I went to the Melrose Trading Post with a new client of mine and found a couple of items we just had to get. The first is two ceramic owls that I could not pass by.

Owls are super trendy right now in home design so I wasn’t suprised to find so many of them at the market. These guys are already great but since we are having her office colors be black + white with red and silver accents, we need to give them a makeover. I’m going to have these spray painted silver and then they will be ready to go to their new home. I happened to also stumble upon these owls from West Elm yesterday, funny enough they’re in silver!

Next up? The Victorian Boot. I love, love LOVVEEE this piece. For lack of a better word, it’s just plain cool. Now again gold accents aren’t going to work in her space so we are thinking of making this piece bright bold red. We’re not sure yet what we want to do with this piece because I’m thinking either it’s a great pencil holder, vase or even just a great conversation piece.
