TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:

I wanted my office to be comfortable yet sophisticated but not too girly. I chose the gray and white because they are two of my company colors and branding is very important to me. I am constantly consulting clients on how to develop their brand from logo to marketing materials and your office is a reflection of that too.

TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?

I love that my office is in the heart of Palm Beach. I am upstairs from two great clothing boutiques, near excellent restaurants and easily accessible to my clients.

TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

I wanted to incorporate my company pattern, so when I found the curtains from Ballard Designs I went from there.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

I didn’t move anything in until I had decorated the space. When I first got my office is was four white walls.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

It’s a little piece of heaven. I love listening to Pandora, burning a candle and working away.

TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?

I think your environment is very influential of your mood, creativity and productivity. I always

joke I want to live in my office because I love all of the elements and now want my home to be

decorated more like my office.

Office Closet Re-Do

TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:

My tiny little office is actually a closet that I transformed into an office space! I live in a 1920′s era apartment and I think this room was built to be a dressing room, complete with shelves and built in dresser. I love the results of my groovy closet turned office and find it to be such an inspiring little space!

TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?

I love my pendant light fixture. The cool shadows that it casts on the walls are amazing!

TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

It all started with the groovy vintage pendant light fixture I picked up at a local flea market for just 20 bucks! I knew I wanted to mix in some color and some metallics so that is where I got the idea to add the silver vinyl to the built in dresser/ desktop with brass nail head trim. The fabric covering the shelves that house unattractive computer wires, etc. is actually a Dwell tablecloth I picked up from Target and hemmed into two matching pieces to fit the space. I have an inspiration board on one side of my computer with cool brass urchins on the opposite that are a knock off designer ones I could never afford! And the colorful artwork is all vintage, picked up for just a few bucks each at local flea markets!

TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

Well, prior to the makeover it was really just a closet and not an office. I had my computer in there and used it for storing stuff but didn’t really spend a whole lot of time in the space for obvious reasons…. Do you see the pepto pink walls in the before photo???? What on earth was I thinking???

TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

I love working in my office now. It is as perfectly perfect as I could make it and I am way more inspired in it now than I ever was!

TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?

I absolutely feel like you have to love your space in order to be productive. Period.

TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:

My studio’s home office is now a peaceful, functionable, and stylish place where I can show off my photo + film work to clients but also show them a bit of me and my style. I had always dreamed of one day have rooms that look like pages out of Home + Gardens magazine and now I do. It’s everything I am. I love English gardens and elegance and I think that I couldn’t see how the look could infuse with my art and still be a workable space. When Amanda, of Amanda Carol Interiors, brought in swatches and inspiration boards everything was chosen purely on if it made me smile. Things I can’t live without or fall in love with will always make you smile…when it was finished I knew I loved this office because I couldn’t stop grinning!

TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?

I love my Restoration Hardware chairs, my antiqued walnut hardwood floors, and my very functionable console table that hides my office supplies, printer, and some paper work. But more than anything and what I get the most compliments on are the drapes. I had told Amanda my lover for Belgian linen being that I spent my high school years abroad in Mons, Belgium. I knew that Restoration Hardware had my Belgian linen drapes and I was ready to purchase them when Amanda found a way of conserving the money for something else in the room rather than the designer drapes. She showed me Home Depot drop clothes. My jaw just dropped. It looked the same. It felt the same. And the best thing is it came pre-hemmed! She also found Restoration Hardware look a like curtain hardware with mercury glass ends from Lowe’s. It completely frames the three windows of the room which I always felt were the eyes of our home.

TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

A bit Pottery Barn, a dash of Martha Stewart’s home, and a sprinkling of my many european adventures.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

It was dark and edgy space. It was a space that became a “catch all” to our newly wed furniture. I didn’t want to spend much time in it. It really shaped how I creatively developed my work. It too was edgy and trendy and it really wasn’t who I was inside. It had a red couch where I would meet and get to know my clients. My least favorite color is red. So nothing reflected myself. It was constant struggle between the artist I wanted to become and being bound by my own limitations.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

Changing my studio’s office has definately been the best thing I’ve done for not only me, but for my business and my family. I no larger have a space that I’m embarassed of. I actually prefer to meet with my clients here rather than at a Starbucks in town. It has really helped convey who I am and my style of work to potential brides. I can work from home without feeling anxious of not having an office good enough to work out of. My children see more of me because I’m not zipping everywhere all over town to meet else where. It has been the best move for me and I feel like I can only achieve more from this work space. We’ve recently been able to add cinematography to our wedding services and been able to brand my company so much more effeciently because with one look around my office I know who I am.

TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?

Absolutely. Without a doubt. Who can be happy in a cubicle or blank space of a room with just you and your computer. The sterile look or even cluttered mess can’t make for a very welcoming space. When you step into the job you love you should be stepping into a space you love with it…In my line of work everything is about feeling. It’s the romance. In the feelings I see that are being shared is where I draw my inspiration.

TOS: Use one word to describe your office

I’m finding it impossible to find the one word to encompass all that my office is. So here’s three: Inviting, Soft, and Perfect!

Hello, I’m Christa. I’m a wedding photographer in the Houston area. www.christaelyce.com I am a born Houstonian, but lived all over the world before settling back in Houston over 6 years ago. I love Italian food and I make a fabulous lasagna. Seriously, it’s good. It should be famous. I love antiques and thrift stores. My husband, Brandon, and the darling babies, Winter + Brighton, are the greatest blessings to my life. We love downtown Houston. It’s always busy and bright and there’s always something to do with our little family! I love freebies. I love trying new foods, I will try everything because I never want an opportunity to pass me by. I have over 20 pairs of heels in my closet. On a lazy day, we watch documentaries. TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:

My office currently sits in the master bedroom of our apartment my husband and I rent in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It has a really odd shaped layout that doesn’t fit our queen sized bed so instead it’s become my office, or as we’ve renamed it, the ‘girl cave.’ Since I was limited in my options for changing the rooms structure, doors, windows and so forth, I added a bit of paint to really transform the space into a functional, open and airy space.

TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?

I absolutely think having a space that just feels like ‘me’ is my favorite part of my girl cave. People see photos of my office or come over and see the room and they always say “It’s so “Rhi” in here!” Everything in here has a purpose and continually leaves me inspired and motivated. My most favorite part though, would have to be a tie between my ceramic rhino head that I received as a gift for my 25th birthday and my new gray-purple plush velvet nail head chairs. They were the perfect steal at $120 each and really give that extra bit of glam to the room.

TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

My inspiration started with painting the walls to match my business colours; dusty rose and pale gray. And from there, I sourced out everything else I’d need to make the office functional (like a desk for starters!) Since this is my first home office I had to buy everything from scratch. But in terms of the decor, I stay inspired with my cake stand collection, vintage treasures and personal aesthetic style.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

Considering my former office was our living room couch (which actually has a permanent groove in it thanks to me) I think this is a really spectacular upgrade. I feel so lucky to sit at an actual desk now!

TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

Now that I have a designated work space I feel more official. I feel motivated and inspired on a daily basis and actually get more work done now that I’m not sitting in front of the television. Having an official work space has definitely made me feel more confident too, which is a bonus. When you’re your own boss and you work from home, it can be tough to feel like you have a sense of purpose. But this office has really helped me feel otherwise.

TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?

This was the number one reason I made over the bedroom in the first place. As a wedding stylist and blogger who works from home 98% of the time, it was extremely important to me to have a space that is conducive to the type of work I do. And this is also one of the reasons I have dubbed this room my girl cave versus my office. I want this space to feel like it is entirely my own, like it’s something I’ve created and can be proud of and I think I’ve done just that.

About you:

I’m a 25 year old wedding planner and stylist who also blogs at Hey Gorg full time. I live in western Michigan with my engineer husband and our Siamese kitty, Yurchenko. We both love travelling, interior design and open welcoming spaces and are currently searching for the perfect lot to build our first home on. Andrew thinks it’s only fair that in our new home he gets his own man cave; and I’m looking forward to an upgraded version of the space I have now! And a claw foot tub.

The Dark and Drab Home Office Makeover

What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

As you can see in the photos, my office was very dark and appeared more like a den. Since I spend so much time running my business from a home office, and in there all hours of the day/night, I really needed to convert the space into more of a bright, homey, and family friendly environment.

What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why? i.e. the arched window in the front office, etc.

My favorite design of the office is how bright the walls are now; a favorite item is a special piece of art that a dear friend gave me that was converted into a desk lamp with a fun pink shade by the Weisshouse team.

How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

Out of place and not like it was “mine”.

How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

At home, like it is finally where I WANT to be.

Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work?

Absolutely! I have great, comfy furniture to hold meetings with clients, vendors and employees — plus, I love having my family able to come in after hours and “do their thing.”

Tell us about your company and what it means to you to have a well-designed office space.

My name is Georgette Pascale, I run an all virtual healthcare communications firm, Pascale Communications. As mentioned before, running a company requires me to be able to be in that office at all hours of the day/night. Having a well-designed space that functions as a place to both work and play is key for me to achieve that work/home balance. Design assistance provided by Weisshouse.

Jan’s Home Office Cleanup

TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:

Our home office is used for the typical home office needs. It is off of our kitchen and a space that we use often and seems to be a gathering space for guests when they came over. I spend quite a bit of time in here with all my blogging and crafting.

TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?

I would have to say my new desk/workspace. I have a well lit expanse of space that allows me to have access to my computer and still have space for my projects.

TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

The inspiration for my office makeover all started with a $2.00 thrift store chandelier. We hung it and I just knew were I wanted to go with my office makeover.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

Our office was very dark and cluttered. My husband’s DJ equipment felt like it was looming over my head as I sat at my desk. The room was completely disfunctional and our use of space was terrible.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

Our office makeover has been so positive. I have the space to work and create. I find myself wanting to keep it organized, unless I’m working on one of my craft projects.

TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?

I am a true believer in that our environment affects our mood and ability to be productive. Having a beautiful, clean, and uncluttered space helps keep the peace and working doesn’t seem so bad.

About you: I am a School Psychologist that has developed a love for decorating and crafting. I have been married for 6 years and loving every minute of it. I love finding new projects to work on and I always seem to have something that I’m asking my husband to help me with.
