Design for Mankind’s Ultra Modern Chic Home Office

Describe your office space to us
My office is crazy eclectic, as it’s the one space in my home where inspiration overrides function. Multiple color stories, patterns and styles live here, and I couldn’t love it more!

Where did the inspiration for your office space design come from?
I’d say the bulk of my inspiration stems from my artwork. I have a vast collection of art from my favorite emerging talents that I’ve written about over the past five years. It’s important to me to be surrounded by these pieces as a reminder to keep plugging away and spreading the word about creative folks. So, when designing the space, I made sure my art took center stage.

What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why?
I love the custom modern art shelf I built with my husband. It’s super long, seamless and the perfect place to display my unframed prints, zines and mixed media pieces.

Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work?
Well, it’s just me, but yes, absolutely. My husband and I have been renovating this home for more than two years, and it’s become such a blessing to work in a finished office space, rather than in a corner amidst dust and drywall scraps.

If you could use one word to describe the feel of the office space, what would it be?
Bright.

Tell us about your company and what it means to you to have a well-designed office space.
I’m a design blogger, freelance writer and talent for HGTV.com, so design is a huge part of my job. I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t put any effort into my own space!

I’m not feeling it. But I think it’s the lacklustre photos, not the space itself.

  2. While minimalism is a great style, one can go too bare and make a space appear too sterile.

Here are photos from two office styles – one minimal and the other with personality:
