Espana Photography Office Makeover

The Before:

The After:

What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

I am inspired by so many people, blogs and ideas.  I’d wanted to do a vintage wallpaper wall for a long time but didn’t know if I would be able to find, or afford, enough to do it.  I saw a wallpaper collage on SF Girl by bay {link HERE} that was definitely my inspiration.  On a recent trip to Seattle I helped my Aunt Trisha [http://www.retroactivekids.com] organize her art studio.  In return, she gifted me with some beautiful wallpapers!  The fun thing about this technique is it’s so changeable, and you could even use wrapping papers and scrapbook papers.  The rest of it was born out of a need for an organized space to work in, and of course pretty things to look at.  My talented friend Rachel Morell [http://jonathandavidphoto.com/blog/] helped me style the shelves.

What is your favorite part of the office and why?

I have to say my favorite part is the vintage wallpaper wall, though I love the whole office.  That wall just makes me happy looking at it. . . my favorite colors, the deer I inherited from my great grandma, the mirrors I found on a thrifting expedition.  I just love that wall.

How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

I’m embarrassed to say it was so awful I actually couldn’t work in there.  I wasn’t able to get it painted before we moved in, and it was hideous.  I actually ended up just setting up a temporary office space in my living-room to avoid having to work in my actual office until it was done!

How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

Magical.  I am so productive in there now it’s ridiculous.  I was joking with a friend that I want to put a bed in there so I can fall asleep while looking at my shelves.

Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?

Absolutely!  I never underestimate the power of a box with a good label.
