Photos by Daniel O’Connor Photography

Where did the inspiration for your office space design come from?

The inspiration for our design and branding office, Studio No. 6, came from our website and our project portfolio. The concept for the space was to extend our brand into 3-D space. It was designed to feel contemporary, hip, fresh, edgy and unexpected. A moveable wall in the center of the office, which acts as a backdrop to the conference room, features a flying frog from our most notable work, the branding of the GO Boulder buses.

What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why?

My favorite part of the office is difficult because I have three elements which I absolutely love. We customized barn doors to house the media center in the conference room with customized door handles of our logo. And who has a modern orange chandelier in a conference room? But the biggest statement is the moveable wall with a flying frog and large paint splatters. The wall has a dual purpose; acting as a room divider between the client area and the work stations and housing a large work station on the ‘studio’ side of this large 8’ tall piece.

Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work?

The space has not only changed how we work, but changed how we present our work. Prior to this space we were a virtual company and often had presentations and meetings with clients in random places like coffee shops. Now we are perceived as more professional, more creative and more serious about our creativity! We now look forward to going to work and find that we collaborate more with both clients and team members because we have a place to call home.

If you could use one word to describe the feel of the office space, what would it be?

Energetic!

Tell us about your company and what it means to you to have a well-designed office space.

Studio No. 6 is a design and branding company with a multi-disciplinary, artistic approach to branding campaigns. It’s a reflection of who we are and our resume in 3-D. It’s a statement without making a statement and an extension of our creativity.

We wanted to represent a fresh approach to how a design studio looks by using contrasting materials, dynamic graphics and unexpected details throughout.

When our clients enter the space, they understand our design sensibility immediately which makes the job of selling much easier. But what it means most is that it makes us happy. Not only do the aesthetics make us smile, but it actually has a much deeper meaning. Our space represents a large accomplishment because the space was completely raw when we began the tenant finish. We did the space planning, 3-D renderings, architecture and oversaw the construction and custom fabrication of each and every detail. It was a large project that is enjoyed each and every day.

Describe your office space to us

Designed by architecture and design firm ADDInc Miamiand constructed by KM-Plaza, interactive agency BGT’s brand-new, custom-built, 30,000 square-foot global headquarters in Miami, FL was crafted to make both Facebook and Google envious. A true evolution of design trends that resembles a massive San Francisco loft, the space includes:

Zero cubicles, no right angles and countless collaborative spaces that emphasize and enhance innovation and flexibility – every work space is unique

Polished concrete floors; 14-foot exposed warehouse ceilings; industrial materials like raw plywood, rusted metal angle irons and barn-like wood paneling

An eight-sided conference room, the “Octagon,” with a 35’ ceiling, a 15’ projection screen and a 10’ spiral light fixture hand-made in Italy

An expansive, iPad-friendly conference table flanked by modern Herman Miller chairs and a working “garage door”

A spacious employee lounge complete with an open kitchen, built-in benches, a popcorn machine, an industrial-strength espresso machine and a performance area for in-house bands

Two “living walls” made from hanging plants in one of the collaborative breakout rooms

The world’s largest “floor-to-ceiling” dry-erase marker board used for brainstorming (30’ x 15’)

A figure-eight corridor that represents a mile if walked six times

22 miles of voice, data and Internet cables

A transparent server room

Two large lecture rooms

A training space that fits up to 20 people

A creative corner with a piano and Legos

A library with industry-relevant books and articles

Custom-painted artwork throughout the office

A giant gong used to celebrate new projects

An interactive lab where clients’ websites are tested before pushed live

Where did the inspiration for your office space design come from?

For many years, BGT’s co-founder David Clarke had the generalidea and design of BGT’s global headquarters mapped out in his mind. It took several years to find the perfect location, but once BGT decided onthe Village at Gulfstream Park in Miami, FL, David and BGT’s other co-founder Gay Manheimer worked hand-in-hand with the architecture and design firmADD Inc Miami to make the cutting-edge office space a reality.

What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why?

The cornerstone of our new space is the staff café and lounge that’s located in the heart of the office. The whole headquarters was built to make the staff feel like they’re working at home, and this café/lounge area epitomizes this home environment. It includes:

An eight-sided conference room, the “Octagon,” with a 35’ ceiling, a 15’ projection screen and a 10’ spiral light fixture hand-made in Italy

An expansive, iPad-friendly conference table flanked by modern Herman Miller chairs and a working “garage door”

A spacious employee lounge complete with an open kitchen, built-in benches, a popcorn machine, an industrial-strength espresso machine and a performance area for in-house bands

Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work?

We wanted to create a space that reflected the passion, dedication and creativity of our staff. It’s our responsibility to make sure that when BGT’s greatest asset, our staff, leaves the office at night they’re excited to return the next morning – and having a well-designed office space helps to make this goal a reality.

If you could use one word to describe the feel of the office space, what would it be?

Two words: Collaborative and transparent.

Tell us about your company and what it means to you to have a well-designed office space.

Ever since BGT was founded in 1996, our top priority has been the well-being of our staff. We’re most proud of being named an Ad Age Best Place to Work in the U.S. two years in row – in 2011 (#2) and 2010 – and our new office plays a big role in engendering employee happiness. The space represents our philosophy of collaboration and transparency, and you’ll see many unique areas throughout designed to emphasize teamwork and to fit our specific needs.

BGT’s boilerplate:

BGT Partners, a 2010 and 2011 (#2) Ad Age Best Place to Work in the U.S., creates interactive marketing and technology solutions for global corporations that strengthen brands, develop more engaging relationships and transform businesses.
Distractions at work are one of the biggest time wasters and preventers of productivity. There are loads of distractions around while you’re working like your cell phone, co-workers talking loudly, visitors, etc. but is your workspace distracting you too?

Take a good hard look at your desk area and tell me what you see. Is it a mess? Is it covered from top to bottom with post-its, memos and other notes you still haven’t gotten around to? Or is it stacked with knick-knacks and frames? If you answered yes to any of those then your workspace is a distraction and can even cause you unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Here are a few tips to dump the distractions and the stress:

If you’re a post-it master

Get a memo pad you can’t throw away. There are tons of options like WhiteyBoard where you can stick a sheet of whiteboard and use it as a long to do list. They even have white board stickers. Keep it to a maximum of 4 on your desk, anymore will start the stress and clutter all over.

If you’re a Collector
