Je Taime Home Office Makeover!

Bonjour! This week’s office makeover keeps to a black and white color scheme which we absolutely just love! As seen already with The Office Stylist’s own home office, black and white is a great way to decorate your office at home or at work. Let’s take a peek at this office makeover and see how it all came together from a blank slate.

Before:

After:

The Office Stylist and Stephanie Poli of Love & Lace, talked about her super chic, Paris inspired home office.

TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:

Stephanie Poli: My office is my personal haven. I spend so much of my leisure time on the computer, designing, writing, reading and crafting, so I needed a room that could facilitate all those needs. I am instantly drawn to anything black & white, so I layered a lot of patterned accent pieces, with little hints of color. It’s a balance of my two loves: vintage charm and modern functionality.

TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?

SP: My new desk from Ikea! It’s the Expedit desk and bookcase combination. I love that the desk acts as a room divider between my workspace and the seating area. The bookcase is great because it’s sectional. I can display books and decorative items without it looking cluttered.

TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?

SP: Black curtains. I loved the idea of adding high drama to a workspace. I’ve always had a soft spot for Parisian styling, there is just something intrinsically glamorous and feminine about it.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?

SP: When we first moved into our house, I was in the middle of a lot of craft projects for my wedding, so my office was a bit of a disaster. Things were haphazardly stored and none of my furniture had any sort of cohesion. I detest messy workspaces and that was what it was.

TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?

SP: I adore it. It’s a place of calm for me. I am surrounded by lovely, beautiful things. Having a nice office also motivates me to keep things organized, something that is always a struggle.

TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?

SP: Most definitely! I wish my office at my workplace was this nice. I’d get so much more done.

TOS: Where do you find your inspiration for your blog Love & Lace?

SP: The internet is a huge source. I love seeing what other bloggers are doing, Martha Stewart of course, also Flickr, Google images and Etsy. I find that the production design of some of my favorite films serve as inspiration; like Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette.

  1. GREAT! I love it! I also think it’s awesome that you feature a workspace that is attainable for people who don’t have money pouring out of their bum holes. I can shop at Ikea, and this office design is definitely attainable!

  2. Love this article – and makeovers are in perfect alignment with my styles 2 go office furnishings. I especially like the pictoral story about what you did and how you did it. I am sharing this on our Facebook pages and Twitter.

    Many thanks,

  3. Can you please tell me where you got the Eiffel tower used on the wall or what it is? My girlfriend would love that, thank you!

  4. It’s a wall decal and a lot of places online have them. Just google Eiffel Tower Wall Decal and you should be able to find it :-)
