Where did the inspiration for your office space design come from?

The building that now houses LE&A’s new corporate office – located at 47 Commerce SW – previously served as a car repair shop for much of the 20th century.  After a complete renovation, the space has become a work environment that can best be characterized as ‘professional cool.’  The new location reflects our personality, blended business focus and creativity, and fresh commitment to local business.

Five Michigan-based companies and LE&A clients – Pioneer Construction, Avian, Springthrough Technologies, Engineered Protection Services (EPS) and Two Men and a Truck – were commissioned to complete the project in partnership with Cornerstone Architects.  We make it a point to support our clients first and foremost as well as Michigan businesses whenever possible, and we’re proud to partner on such a great facility.

What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why? i.e. the arched window in the front office, etc.

We have a large Scrabble board laid out on the floor of the alcove that fosters our creativity and challenges our versatility.  It represents our team’s value of bringing energy and fun to the workplace and the activity also provides a unique way to engage with clients.

Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work?

Our team has always demonstrated a strategic, business-oriented approach with a focus on results, and we strive to do so in a fun, creative manner.  The design of the office has enhanced our productivity and provides us with the space that allows the creativity to flow while maintaining a professional work environment. We compete nationally and have to attract national-caliber talent, and the environment we work in everyday is critical to maintaining our culture.

In addition, the renovation was completed using sustainable materials whenever possible with the anticipation of achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the building, one of only a handful of local office renovations to receive this designation.  We believe today, more than ever, it’s important to be environmentally conscious, and from the beginning of this project we focused on making our new space as sustainable as possible.  We took steps to ensure that not only would the finished product keep LE&A eco-friendly for years to come, but that the construction process would also have a minimal environmental impact.

Our corporate values emphasize integrity, teamwork, a strong work ethic, curiosity, energy and fun. A well-designed office space represents these characteristics, allows us to feel comfortable yet productive, and builds teamwork as well as allowing associates to work independently and efficiently.
