This non-profit knows that well lit, stylish office design will only help with their work in the office. A beautiful office located in the West Village of NYC, take an inside peek and learn what inspires the women at the Step Up Women’s Network.
The Office Stylist Notes: Instead of the usual notes from me, we’re going to have a great Q/A Jenni Luke, Executive Director of Step Up Women’s Network listed below. Enjoy!
Sayeh of TheOfficeStylist.com: Tell us about your company and what it means to you to have a well-designed office space.
SU: Step Up Women’s Network is a national, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to connecting and advancing women and girls. Simply stated, Step Up connects you to the professional women you need & the undeserved teen girls who need you.
At Step Up, we hope to inspire others. We want to inspire professional women to leverage their time, talent and treasure to help the next generation of career women. We also aim to inspire our teen students to become confident, college-bound, and career-ready. So it’s important that our staff and volunteers have a well-designed office that inspires us every day. This West Village space does exactly that with its bright, warm colors and special modern touches.
TOS: Do you feel that having a well designed and inspiring office has changed the way you and your employees work?
SU: I believe that when employees love their work, they are more productive and successful. It’s much easier to come to the office each morning when you love the space you spend your weekdays. Since our building is a live-work building, it really is the perfect setting for Step Up Women’s Network. The kitchen and large conference space allow us to utilize the space for programming as well as to entertain our volunteers and members – which happens frequently with Step Up! The colors and floral motif are not only warm and welcoming, but fit our Step Up branding and mission. It’s fashionable and functional!
TOS: What is your favorite part/design of your office space and why?
SU: I love our conference room. The modern white table and chairs really stand out against the motivating orange walls and the beautiful wood floors. I feel powerful when I sit here – like we can really achieve anything with our women around this table! The room is set off by gorgeous sliding doors and overlooks Bleecker Street – a hip, fun place to connect women and girls.

TOS: Where did the inspiration for your office space design come from?
CR: My inspiration for the design for Step Up Women’s Network’s New York office came from the site: the beautiful, sun-filled space looking out over Bleecker Street. It is fitting, then, that the offices for Step Up Women’s Network be located in a place that welcomes and encourages harmony.
The end result is truly a blossoming design that reflects the optimism of the Step Up organization!
TOS: I couldn’t agree more with Jenni about needing a space that inspires herself and staff each and every day. It’s not only important to those who visit your office, but having a well designed office space is essential to those who spend every day in the office. 40 + hours a week in a dark or just plain dreary space can really hinder your work. My favorite part? The combination of the white+ orange.
Want the same or similar look that Step Up has? Try combining white + orange office accessories throughout your workspace.
