TheOfficeStylist: Describe your office to us:
The office is organized, polished, and a little fancy. It’s an obvious reflection of my mom, for whom I designed it for.
TOS: What is your favorite part of your office and why?
CLOSED STORAGE! Visual clutter is so stressful so being able to eliminate most of it has been cathartic. I scoured stores and the internet for pieces that would fit perfectly to make the best use of the space. I’ve found that even if a piece of furniture is not very high end, if it fits well and is highly functional, it feels great to have it in the space anyway.
TOS: What was your inspiration for your office makeover?
I was inspired by my mom’s chic fashion sense. She’s a fan of clean lines, classic details, with a hint of glamour. I was also inspired by many of the amazing office transformations that I’ve seen on this site!
TOS: How did you feel working in your office before your makeover?
Before, the office was just a catch-all for junk. It’s on the side of the house, so it’s a great place to stash stuff that you don’t have the time or motivation to deal with, so over the years, it began to overflow. The furniture was also a sad afterthought, all the pieces thrown in there without much concern for whether they looked good or even fit.
TOS: How did you feel working in your office AFTER your makeover?
The office is inviting and conducive to both relaxing and working. We’re both really happy with the transformation. When I’m visiting, sometimes we just sit in there and admire the improvements. It’s now her favorite room in the house.
TOS: Do you feel it’s important to have an office/workspace you love in order to be happy at work/while working?
Absolutely! Home offices often have the pressure of having to be multi-purpose spaces, so being able to accommodate all those needs in style is not always easy. It’s great to have a place that you look forward to spending time in.
